Day 01
Arrival at Kathmandu.
Representative of MMAT NEPAL will receive you from airport and transfer you to a hotel upon your arrival at the International airport. A short briefing about the next day activities is given and you’ll stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 02
Kathmandu Sightseeing tour and trekking preparation.
After breakfast you are guided out for the sightseeing tour of different UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu. We visit different culturally significant locations such as Boudhhanath, Swayambhunath, Kathmandu durbar square and Pashupatinath. We prepare for trekking and stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 03
Drive to Chamje from Kathmandu. About 7 hours of drive.
Early morning we drive to Chamje from Kathmandu. We pass through different rivers, terraced farms, hills, villages and forests. We arrive at Besisahar and take a local jeep to Chamje. We drive through the countryside along the river bank and arrive at Chamje. We stay overnight at a local guesthouse in Chamje.
Day 04
Trekking from Chamje to Dharapani. About 7 hours of trekking.
We begin our trekking by walking along the bank of river. We cross suspension bridge and begin uphill climbing. We walk through steep and slippery path along the forest. From the top of the hill we can observe the flat meadows of Taal. We ascend further through curvy and stone paved path. After the trekking through villages like Karke and Nache and few more steep ascents the path moves downhill to a river. After crossing the river we arrive at Dharapani and stay overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 05
Trekking from Dharapani to Koto. About 6 hours of trekking.
Today we begin our trekking ascending through the forest covered ridges. The walk through the pine forest is steep and we pass through different villages like Bagarchap, Danaake, Timang and Lamatarang. We are provided with the stunning view of Peak 29, Manaslu and Annapurna massif along the trail. We pass through a river to finally at the Gurung village of Koto. We can see the Tibetan influence in the lifestyle of the inhabitants. We stay overnight at a lodge in Koto.
Day 06
Trekking from Koto to Meta. About 7 hours of trekking.
After enjoying the breakfast at Koto we begin today’s trekking walking along the bank of Soti khola (river). We enjoy the trekking through the pine and oak forest and cross several suspension bridges on the way. After arriving at Dharmashala we continue our trekking ascending uphill through ridges towards the village. We finally reach Meta village which is also a winter settlement area for Nar valley inhabitants. Meta offers stunning sight of Himalayas. We spend our night at a local guesthouse.
Day 07
Trekking from Meta to Phu village. About 7 hours of trekking.
We move uphill through a physically challenging path. The trekking route is torturous and passes across several suspension bridges and villages. We walk through significant locations like Khampa which offers amazing view if Annapurna massif, Pisang Himal, Tiliche Peak and many others. We follow the rocky trail for several hours and cross Phu River to finally arrive at Phu village. We stay overnight at a local guest house in Phu village.
Day 08
Acclimatization and excursion day at Phu valley.
Today we spend our day around the Phu valley. We visit the famous Tashi Lokhang Gompa constructed by Karmaapa Rinpoche. We explore the hidden valley of Phu and observe the lifestyle of local inhabitants like Gurung, Ghale and Lama. The people of the Phu valley depend on animal husbandry and agriculture for their survival. They migrate to other locations during winter as the village is covered with snow. We can walk up to the ridges to acclimatize and enjoy the beautiful view of snow covered mountains. We enjoy our overnight stay at Phu village.
Day 09
Trekking from Phu valley to Nar. About 6-7 hours of trekking.
After the breakfast at Phu village we start our trekking. We walk back through Khyang, Chyarkhaa and Jhuran until the junction to Nar. The trail descends through several overpasses and narrow gorges. The walk is the steep uphill passing through many old monasteries. We enter Nar through the gates located at top of the hill. Nar is decorated with prayer flags, chortens and terraced fields. We stay overnight at a local guesthouse in Nar.
Day 10
Exploration of Nar village and acclimatization day.
Nar village offers beautiful view of Kangaaru Mountain and Pisang Mountain. The village has many Buddhist Gompas such as Guru Chholing, Samdroo Chholing, Samten polgye etc. We explore around the village where the people are friendly and active in working. The son or daughter from almost all family is involved at Gompas. The peoples are busy weaving, carpentering, animal grazing and producing and harvesting crops. We observe the culture and lifestyle of people at Nar village and enjoy the acclimatization. We stay and spend our night at the guesthouse.
Day 11
Trekking from Nar to Ngawal via Kang La Pass (5320m). About 8 hours of trekking.
Trekking through Kang La Pass to Ngawal is a long trekking route. We wake up early in the morning and walk towards Kang La pass. The summit of Kang La Pass offers magnificent view of Himalayas and flat grassland beneath them. We can observe Pisang Peak, Annapurna massif and a distant airport. We descend steeply after reaching Kang La Pass. We pass through several yak shelters and scenic route to finally arrive at Ngawal after whole day walking on a lengthy trail. We stay overnight at Ngawal.
Day 12
Trekking from Ngawal to Manang. About 4 hours of trekking.
After the breakfast we start our trekking towards Manang. The trekking trail is along the bank of Marsyangdi River and leveled valley. The easy trekking trail passes through jungle, villages like Paugh, Braga and beautiful landscapes. We follow the standard Annapurna trail from Mungli and enjoy the beautiful Panorama of Tilicho peak and Annapurna Massif along the route. We reach thr town of Manang and stay overnight at a local guest house.
Day 13
Trekking from Manang to Yak Kharka. About 4 hours of trekking.
The trail continues ascending towards the Tenke Village after crossing a small river. We pass through Jarsang valley and continue the trail through the beautiful forest and along the meadows. We walk through villages like Ghunsan and grazing farms for yak, sheep and horses. The trail continues through several overpasses and Mani walls before reaching Yak Kharka village. We spend our night at Yak kharka village.
Day 14
Trekking from Yak Kharka to Thorang Phedi. About 4 hours of walking.
We enjoy our breakfast at Yak Kharka for Thorang Phedi. We start the trekking through gradual ascending. We cross a river through a wooden overpass and continue the trekking through narrow paths. We arrive at the busy area of Thorang Phedi after few hours of trekking. We stay overnight at Thorang Phedi. We stay overnight at Thorang Phedi rather than climbing up to the pass in order to minimize the risk of altitude related health hazards.
Day 15
Trekking from Thorang Phedi to Muktinath via high Thorang La Pass (5415m). About 8 hours of trekking.
We follow the steeply uphill trail to Thorang La Pass leaving behind Thorang Phedi. Crossing the famous Thorang La Pass is a major highlight of the trekking route. We follow the icy uphill path and the arrival is denoted by the waving prayer flags at the summit of the pass. The sight of snow capped Himalayas and the flat valley of Kaligandaki is picturesque. The trail is now steeply downhill from the pass towards Muktinath. Muktinath is a famous pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. We stay overnight at Muktinath.
Day 16
Trekking from Muktinath to Jomsom via Kagbeni. About 5 hours of trekking.
Early morning we visit the sacred Muktinath temple and enjoy our breakfast returning to the guesthouse. We start the trekking walking downhill towards the Kaligandaki gorge. We walk through the dry topography similar to the Tibetan climatic zone. We walk through different villages rich in Tibetan culture. The trail passes through several monasteries, ancient caves and meadow before arriving at Kagbeni. Kagbeni is an ancient village rich in Tibetan architecture and gateway to the famous Upper Mustang Valley. We continue our walk following the trail to Jomsom through the curvy path of Kaligandaki valley. After our arrival at Jomsom we spend our night at a guesthouse.
Day 17
Fly to Pokhara valley from Jomsom. 30 minutes of scenic flight.
After the breakfast we fly towards Pokhara from airport at Jomsom. The scenic flight offers glorious sight of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna ranges. We check into a hotel upon our arrival and enjoy our day at the beautiful city of Pokhara. We can enjoy evening walk around the Fewa Lake along with the mountain panorama. We stay overnight at a hotel in Pokhara.
Day 18
Drive to Kathmandu from Pokhara and enjoy Farewell dinner.
In the morning we drive back to Kathmandu through the Prithvi Highway. The drive is scenic and passes through several forest, river and villages. Arriving at Kathmandu you are transferred to the hotel. In the evening, we enjoy our farewell dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant and observe Nepalese cultural dance. We stay overnight at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 19
Departure.
